captionthe large scale structure of the universe is made up of voids and filaments that can be broken down into superclusters clusters galaxy groups and subsequently into galaxies. By its very nature the problem of the large scale structure is one that mixes both observational and the theoretical aspects of cosmology the plan of the lectures is first to discuss the general theoretical framework for cosmology and then go on to discuss the impact of key data. On large scales the universe displays coherent structure with galaxies residing in groups and clusters on scales of 1 3 mpc h which lie at the intersections of long filaments of galaxies that are 10 mpc h in length
